CuNi
Low Resistance Alloys and Shunt Alloys: CuNi
To complete our portfolio we supply a wide range of Copper Nickel alloys, which are characterized by high electrical resistivity and resistance to oxidation and chemical corrosion. Different combinations of Copper and Nickel are used for making grades suitable for different temperatures and applications
CuNi44
CuNi44 offers high electrical resistivity and very low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). Due to its low TCR, it finds use in wire-wound precision resistors that can operate up to 400°C (750°F). This alloy is also capable of developing a high and constant electromotive force when coupled with Cu, Fe and NiCr. This property allows it to be used for thermocouple, thermocouple extension and compensating leads. It is easily soldered, welded and offers good corrosion resistance against atmospheric conditions.
Applications:
- Temperature stable potentiometers
- lndustrial rheostats
- Electric motor starter resistances
- For thermocouple applications (CuNi44 is coupled with Cu, Fe, and NiCr to form Type T, Type J, and Type E thermocouples, respectively)

Alloy 5 – 10 – 12 – 15 – 30
This range of CuNi alloys are characterized by low electrical resistivity. They provide good resistance against oxidation and chemical corrosion. They can be used for a maximum operating temperature of 250-300 °C.
Applications:
- Resistors and general resistance wire for heating wires, cables, and mats
- Resistance elements of heaters for electrical circuit breakers/fuses in low T heating cables
- Bimetals

Mang 38* – 43*
JLC Mang series is of copper-nickel alloys that are used for electrical and controlled resistance applications. These alloys have very low temperature coefficient of resistance and offer uniform electrical resistance over long periods of time. Additionally, they have very low thermal electromotive force (EMF) against copper. These alloys have good workability, can be soldered, as well as welded.

Applications:
- Precision, standard, and shunt resistors
- Potentiometers
